Debbie has worked in the hotel industry for over 25 years, during this time she and John have owned various pubs, hotels and restaurants in the South East of England and also spent time in the Middle East on the Island of Bahrain as a Chef training the locals in the art of English Cuisine where they were catering for large receptions of 250 guests or more. John and Debbie have owned and run 2 Guest Houses in Devon and a large Hotel/Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells before buying the Guest House in Dymchurch "Dolly Plum Cottage" which they sold in 2007 to move to the famous "Dr Syns Guest House".
John, who was a Senior Consultant Engineer working in Saudi Arabia for approximately 22 years, has now retired to help Debbie in the running of Dr Syns. He also operates the Dymchurch Private Hire Taxi company from the guest house.
